Querido Familia y Amigos:
If you're usually in a hurry when you read through this blog, slow down to listen to the song below. It will give you tears and chills.

New Short Story: "Glorious"
I heard the song below and started a new short story. Searching on the web gave me further ideas. In one week, I wrote the story, edited it and posted it to my online writers' group Scribophile.
Burks' Assignment Coming to an End:
Our beloved temple president and his wife are ending their 3 years here and going home the first of November. They are also moving out of the president's house and into the apartment next door to us for the balance of the month! I just realised that is only three weeks!!!!! (We saw the moving trucks there on Tuesday.)
Missionaries outside missionary housing across the street from our apartment. The occasion was a celebratory dinner for the Burks given by the Rosales (counsellors to the Burks). Back row: Elder Plaskett, President Rosales, Dr. Province, Dad, Pat and President Burk, Sister Caballero. Centre: President Rosado, Elder Wilson, Elder Price, Elder Allred. Front row: Sister Plaskett, Sister Rosado, Sister Province, Sister Rosado, Sister Wilson, Sister Price, Sister Lowery, Sister Tanner, Sister Allred
Resolutions from Conference:
Saving Money: I have the best savings I've ever had. Thanks to Dad for years of training, and thanks to the Lord for encouraging me. "Ponderizing Scriptures": we like this idea and will try it for the next month.
I shared these at Monday night's FHE, this week at the Plaskett's apartment.

Giving Corner
Thanks to Duncan and Timon this month, helping me help others through giving to Northwest Battle Buddies and World Vision.
Funday Monday:
We took a bus from the caraterra to the centre of town, where we had a Chinese lunch. We bought enough for three meals (accidentally of course) and finished the food for lunch on Tuesday. From there we literally ran across fast-paced traffic, once being helped by a police officer who positioned his truck to block a lane of cars. We spent 1/2 hour at Funvol, a school that helps young people learn English so they can get jobs in call centres. We have thought we might volunteer there, but the large concrete building is noisy. We think we will be happier teaching smaller groups. We visited a class that was practicing conversational skills. I was paired with a young man who likes pizza and hamburgers (in Guatemala???), the Avengers and other action movies, is the middle child of a family of 5 boys. He's also good at basketball as a guard, or so he said. :-)
From there we went the Artisan's Market by the airport. I am buying last minute items to bring home. I had a good idea of what I wanted, but found much better things. It's always wise to go to one of these with an open mind and lots of money!
