Happy Birthday to Brynn Dunford, now a big 1 year(s) old!!!
What a fun end of week I had after I wrote on Friday! I had a call from the temple guardaria (guard house) in Spanish that someone wanted to come over to our apartment. My Spanish is not great, so I assumed it was a maintenance person or two. I told the caller to give me 10 minutes.
In exactly 10 minutes there was someone at our outer door with 2 dozen mauve roses for me! Her name is Patty Alvarez. She is a secretary at the area office and a temple worker on Friday nights. As far as I know I had never met her before. She noticed my times missing the Friday shift and brought me roses! To say I was astonished is to put it mildly!
I forgot last week to mention the other new light in my life. We have the area medical people now living in the missionary apartments. Dr. Province and his wife are upstairs in our building. He has given me medical help and she offered to tutor me in Spanish. Last week we had our Thursday morning tutor hour, learning to use "ser" and "estar," two forms of "to be." She also gave me ideas for practicing Spanish in the times I am folding socks and other quiet jobs. She had guests coming to dinner on Friday and wanted to go shopping at the local Paiz shopping centre. I got to accompany her. She bought food, I bought more fabric for a baby blanket donation, and we had fun looking at pearls from Spain, and buying breads and quiches from a panaderia (bakery).
This week my lesson was during a walk with her and Sister Rosales, one of the assistant matrons in the temple. She had me practicing my Spanish and Sister Rosales practicing her English. What a great morning!

Brady MTC:
Nicole and Brooks have created a series of things for the Brady boys to accomplish this summer. We were invited to their violin and cello concert by Skype last Sunday evening. They are doing well and so is their mother, the accompanist. What amazing players they will be when they are actual missionaries with name tags! Dad took his computer on the roof to show them our for-real MTC here, just two properties away and three stories high.
