Nuestra Familia y amigas: Bienvenidos al Temple! - Welcome to the temple! - something that Dad has said many times this week and during his other shifts at the recommend desk. We have officially begun the Christmas season in Guatemala. The temple grounds are beautiful with potted poinsettias lining the walks and around the temple door. We also have one in our apartment, as our Christmas "tree" this year. Below is also a photo of Dad with the nativity set. |
During my study this week, I found 5 Mormon Tabernacle Choir songs on the lds.org site, free for downloading. My favorite of the group is called "What Shall We Give?" I sent several of you an associated YouTube video. Here it is, along with one of the choir singing the song itself.

I find my emotions very tender and I am weeping frequently as I write this post. We are serving in one of the actual houses of the Lord Jesus Christ, a place where He himself has walked. When I play for baptism groups, for the temple workers, or just for myself and angels, the Lord's Spirit rests on me in power.
Last week we had a fireside for all temple missionaries, workers and spouses. I particularly loved President Roberts' delightful speech about angels. He makes me think of Bob Keddington with his similar jolly nature and theatrical approach to teaching. He told us that according to the dictionary, angels have wings, play harps and sing in choirs. Since he doesn't have or can't do any of these, there is no hope for him being an angel. (You really had to see him acting this out!) He then went on to tell us the real nature of angels as messengers from God. His examples included Moroni coming to Joseph Smith and an angel stopping Alma the younger in the road to correct his misbehavior. (Book of Mormon)

In another bit of fun, I began tap lessons this week! I've had the urge to get my feet moving when I was researching flamenco dancing. Having sung Dad's "Dry Bones" song for the past two weeks helped as well. Surprisingly, I could dance a fun routine made from very simple steps, and also surprisingly, it wore out my legs. It makes a very good Christmas present to myself!
We are especially grateful to hear that Kristi's scans continue to be clean. How much we love her and thank Heavenly Father and the Savior that she continues to be with us. Every family should have such an oldest sister, with her courage and compassion.
During this lovely season, I wish you all happy hearts, much music for this beloved Christmas, and joy in service of the Master.
Great love to all,
